ESTUARY

The film "Estuary" is based on a mystery story, which was told by the landlady of the legendary pub "Lobster's Smack" on Canvey Island at the Thames Estuary. The story depicted some mystical female figure she has seen and was recorded on audio and used directly in the film.

According to some sources, "Lobster's Smack" is mentioned in Charles Dickens' novel "Great Expectations" and was a place where smugglers operated in the past.
